What is a CSA?

CSA stands for community supported agriculture. Essentially, before the growing season begins, farmers invite the community to buy a share of the harvest up front, paying in a lump sum or in installments, before any food is being produced. Once the farm begins pumping out food, the members of the CSA who bought in get a cut of the harvest throughout the season in the form of a box of vegetables each week.

By purchasing a share you are investing in the success of our farm, and building a relationship with the farmers and land that grows your food.

With Little Earth Farms 2021 CSA you will have two options, either pickup from the farm each week on a designated day or have it delivered directly to your door in NYC for a small delivery fee. We will also provide recipes and meal ideas each week to help you in the kitchen, and newsletters and events so you can keep up with the farm.

What's in the box?

Each week our CSA boxes will be filled with whatever is in peak season on our farm, so the content of the boxes will change every week depending on the time of year. You can expect to receive 7-9 different vegetable, herbs or fruit in your box, enough to feed households of 1-3 people. We grow over 40 different plants with over 60 varieties, so you certainly won’t get bored.

We also offer the opportunity to add on other items to your share such as free-range pasture raised eggs or a cut flower bouquet.

You can check out our                     page for a list of vegetables, fruits and herbs you may receive in your box and what time of the year to expect them. Our weekly newsletter will also feature storage tips and cooking ideas.

When does the CSA start?

Our summer CSA program starts the week of May 17th and runs for 20 weeks (so 20 boxes total) until the last week of September.

How do I pay for it?

The price of a CSA share is $30 per week + delivery if required. You can pay the full amount of your share up-front (which is a big help to the farm) or pay through monthly installments. We accept most methods of payment as well as monthly installment through our website.

Do you offer a smaller share?

Unfortunately at this stage we only offer the one share size. If you are interested in purchasing a smaller share size or a bi weekly share instead we would still love to hear from you to see if we can work something out.

How does pickup/delivery work?

Pickups will be scheduled for every Wednesday between 4pm-7pm from our farm in Pine Bush, NY. Delivery direct to your door in NYC will cost an extra $5 per week and will be every scheduled for every Thursday.

What if I go on vacation?

If for any reason you will not be around to receive your weekly share, please let us know the Sunday before your delivery. We will credit you $35 toward add ons to your future boxes or we can send you a double box to make up for the one you missed.

What if I need to cancel my share?

If you're moving out of town or are in any way dissatisfied with your membership, please let us know as soon as possible. We will issue a refund on a pro-rated basis.
